The Cure for Worry!
Don’t worry about anything. Well, that’s easier said than done, isn’t it?
There is so much to worry about right now! Just look around. A lot of people have lost their jobs, their businesses. They are feeling hopeless and see no end to this horrible pandemic. Many are sick. Some have died. So how can anybody say, don’t worry about anything?
There is only One Who has both the right and the authority to say it. And He is the One Who said it… through the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:6. But He doesn’t leave it hanging there. He goes on to say, “instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” So if you are looking for a cure for your worry during these perilous times, we just gave it to you. Pray. Open your hands and give your worry to the One Who can carry it. Tell Him what you need right now, this moment. And thank Him for what He’s already done for you.
If you do this, He promises an amazing result! “THEN you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, NLT)
Maybe you are feeling so stressed and worried right now that you can’t even imagine being able to do what these two verses say. But the good news is that this isn’t about your feeling your way to peace. It’s about taking God at His word and doing what He says to do. Choosing to obey, believing God will keep His word. He is not a liar!
Imagine your heart and mind having your own “peace guard” standing watch and guarding your mind from wandering into the mine field of worry. That’s exactly what we all need right now, isn’t it? Peace. Peace that’s so real we can’t even understand it. Amazing peace. And you can have it. It’s your choice.
