Don’t Let Your Mouth Get You in Trouble

Have you ever thought, “Me and my big mouth!” The apostle James wrote, “Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.” (James 3:2) Are we doomed to constantly finding trouble when we speak? Or, can we learn to avoid the pitfalls our wayward tongues get us into?

In marriage, there are six Faulty Communication Patterns that get us into relational trouble with our spouse. Identifying them is the first step in overcoming and avoiding them. You may find that you use more than one of them. Not only can our words lead us into conflict, what we DON’T say – our silence – can be a weapon, too. Learning to control our tongue is very, very important.

In Don’t Let Your Mouth Get You In Trouble, Harold and Bette Gillogly explain the six primary communication patterns that cause relational trouble. They also explain the ways you can avoid these pitfalls and use your words for blessings.
